Alpine Country Car Club Jamieson Inc.

The Alpine Country Car Club Jamieson Inc. was formed in 2006 to provide a common point for people with an enthusiasm for cars. Activities are of a social nature, club runs, visits to interesting places, meeting up with others that share our car hobby. You do not need to have a “special” car to join us. We met at various venues for our monthly meetings, with dinner afterwards.

Mansfield Rural Equine Dental Services

Lisa is a caring, experienced and qualified equine dentist, who has been bringing a smile to many a horse and owner’s face since 2004.

She accurately diagnoses and effectively treats a wide range of dental problems in horses.

The comfort and well-being of her equine patient always of prime importance.

Lisa treats horses and donkeys of all breeds and sizes throughout the Mansfield area, using non-sedative techniques and plenty of TLC.
She is dedicated to the belief that good equine oral hygiene is as important to the well-being of a horse as is good hoof care or balanced nutrition.
Quality instruments, gentle technique and TLC are Lisa’s trademark

For some horses, a regular visit by the equine dentist is already part of their care and maintenance programme. Ideally equine mouth care should be started when the horse is young so as to identify and correct any early signs of dental problems. It is equally important for older retired horses to have regular maintenance visits as they are more prone to gum disease and other mouth problems.

Sharp or broken teeth can produce soreness to the tongue and cheeks, as well as reducing the efficiency of the chewing and eating process.
Healthy teeth result in an improved eating mechanism, better nutrition and ultimately better overall performance.

Signs that your horse may require an equine dentist:
• Changes in eating habits – dribbling feed, washing feed in the water bucket,
• Holding its head to the side or not eating at all.
• The horse’s breath might be unpleasant and it may look like it has a swollen cheek, one side or both.
• The horse may not hold its condition as well as it would normally.
• The horse may roll the food into a ball and drop it on the ground – called “quidding”.
• As well, mouth problems can cause horses to become head shy, develop head tossing, rear or be generally unsettled and not perform well. Soreness of the mouth, caused by sharp or broken teeth may be the reason.

Equine dental equipment
Equine dentistry is a specialised job, and Lisa insists on using only the best quality instruments with her equine patients. All of Lisa’s hand files, stainless steel bucket and large forceps are specially designed and custom made by an Equine Dentist who has worked in the field for over 20 years.
The smaller selection of forceps etc are top quality surgical stainless steel dental equipment.
The gag Lisa uses will fit horses of all sizes, from the smallest of minis to large Clydies.

Scaling build up on a canine tooth.  See the inflamed collar of gingiva (gingivitis) around the canine after it has been cleaned.  Scaling does cause gum disease and needs to be cleaned.
